Alarm Systems, Home, and security systems.

Many years ago people could leave their houses unlocked and unattended with no repercussions but in today’s society thieves prey on the naïve. Identity thieves look for personal information to steal, while traditional burglars are in search of material possessions. An even more frightening possibility is an intruder bent on harming the inhabitants of the home.
At Alliedalrams.com our goal is to provide today’s homeowner with the information necessary to protect themselves and their family an intruder, fires, and gases. Purchasing a home security system can be costly so it’s important to make the right decisions. Too many homeowners have good intentions but end up not using the security system because it’s too difficult to use, or too sensitive.
Knowing how a home security system works will give a little insight into what kind of service is right for you. Detectors are installed on doors and windows, when these openings are closed an electrical current is complete and runs across the detectors, when they are opened the current is broken and a signal is sent to the control panel.
Depending on the system setup it can work one of a few ways. The first option is when the detector is set off the user has a certain amount of time to enter a code that ensures everything is ok. If the code is entered in time the alarm is turned off. Some systems skip this first step and go straight to the next step that would occur if the proper code was not entered. The security monitoring center will call the homeowner, either directly through a line on the control panel or on the homeowner’s private phone line.
The operator will ask if everything is ok and to please enter the security code. The homeowner will know two codes, one that tells the operator everything is fine and the alarm is to be turned off. The other code says everything is ok-when it’s really not. This second code will turn off the alarm also but notify the police as well. This is for the violent intruder who may be threatening danger if the police are called. The police are notified but it does not appear as if the homeowner requests it.
Some systems that are not set up with a monitoring system just automatically call the preset emergency numbers if a detector is set off. The call gives a recorded message to the dispatcher that the home security system has been breached. The dispatcher will then send emergency response to the scene. This option can save the homeowner the monthly monitoring fees, but can result in police responding to false alarms- which after a couple of times will cost the homeowner a ticket.
When selecting a security system for the home determine security needs prior to calling a company to install one. Know how many windows and doors need to be monitored, and where the control panel will be located. Motion sensors can also be installed in the home, but are not recommended for those who can be active at night. Motion sensors are best reserved for when the home owner is away from home to prevent false alarms triggered by the roaming house pet or a family member using the restroom at night.
Installing a home security system is the easiest when the home is still under construction. Wires need to be run from the sensors to the control panel. Wireless systems can be installed for more money. One of the most important things when buying a security system is making sure the control panel is easy to use and something the whole family can understand. Another critical component is a system that detects heat or smoke, along with gases such as the fatal carbon monoxide.
